eBay Motors keeps changing, but listings remain the same
Well, you can’t say there are not trying hard, but still eBay Motors is no success story in Germany. Since I started observing the listings from Motors Germany in February, many things happened. eBay announced a new fee structure, started to allow reserve price-option, tried to market the category aggressively on eBay home and now they did a small relaunch of the category’s websites. But compared with big brother USA, where Motors is the most succesful category, all effort has not much of an impact. There where big jumps in listings since Feb, but in the long run they where all temporarily driven, i.e. by holidays such as easter or ascension. This weeks figures don’t look to bad: 9150 listings online, that means a 32% plus compared with mid of February. But the last months have told us, that real growth is not the trend on eBay Motors. It is more a bouncing from high to low and what is missing is a real development into another dimension of selling cars on eBay…
And by the way, whats the news in telling people “every 3 minutes we sell a car”? They do this since months now. In the US, they are selling 2 cars a minute!
